Bathtub Island / Lake Superior
Hi everyone and thank you for visiting my website. I'm really exited about this new series of paintings inspired by the Bathtub Island area on Lake Superior, My daughter Dawn took me there a couple of years ago on a hike and I have to say I have now added this location to my list of favourite places to visit and paint on the coastline of Lake Superior.
Amazing things happen to one's psyche when spending time in the lee of this magical little island. A short hike from Katherine Cove will get you there.
I completed a fairly large painting of Bathtub Island late last fall for my yearly Christmas show in Sault Ste Marie which sold on the first day. The painting stayed in the store for a week or so before the buyer came to pick it up. Quite a bit of interest was shown for this painting so I decided when I got back into my studio I would paint another one.
This is how a series starts I think with people telling me stories about certain iconic locations on the Big Lake. In the instance of the first Bathtub Island painting the person that bought it told me that this was where she first fell in love with her partner.
I got to work a month or so ago and after completing one painting decided that a series was needed...so far I've painted twelve of the Bathtub Island which has now officially become a series.
I believe this is another area of Lake Superior that attracts powerful energy. The sky, water, sand, rock and trees vibrate with an incredible life-force and their colours vary with the mood of Gitche Gumee.
Anywhere these paintings are placed in your home a feeling of well being will be added to the atmosphere.
Just want to thank everyone that have purchased my art and music.
- As of today November 30/2020 this series of paintings is now sold out. I am working on a new series of Bathtub Island and will post photos of these paintings when they become available.
